2030 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the centenary edition (marking 100 years) will be held in Ahmedabad (Amdavad), Gujarat during the month of October 2030. India will be hosting these games for the second time.
74 member nations and territories are expected to participate in the event and it will feature 15 to 17 full-fledged sports. T20 cricket, hockey, shooting, archery, Judo, beach volleyball, badminton, and traditional sports like yoga, Kabbadi are also under consideration to be included this time.
It is being viewed as major stepping stone for India’s ambition to host the Olympic Games in 2036. Athletics, para-athletics, Boxing, swimming, para-swimming, table tennis, para-table tennis, bowls, para-bowls, weightlifting, para-powerlifting, artistic gymnastics and netball are some of the confirmed sports. However the final list and schedule is expected to be announced by July/August 2027.
Arrangements:
- The state government is planning to construct athlete’s village as a dedicated housing facility to accommodate 5000 players and team staff.
- In addition to it, planning to add 3000 new hotel rooms for the global tourist/spectators, special arrangements at airport and railway stations to double passenger handling capacity.
